Walsingham Pilgrimage 2015.
Our Annual pilgrimage to Walsingham started as usual from the Church of St. Francis of Assisi on Friday 5th June on a very pleasant day for a change. After a rest stop at Hartshead Moor we then proceeded to Grantham where we had our lunch break, arriving in Walsingham about 2.30 in the afternoon. Rooms allocated and settled in we then had free time to explore until we had evening prayer and dinner. After dinner we were able to use the dining room for a bingo session, again to raise funds for “Jospice”. Saturday after breakfast those who wanted to were able to take a trip out to Sheringham for a short break. Returning in time for Benediction and “Divine Mercy” devotions, returning for dinner and evening prayer, after which we had a surprise birthday party in the dining room for Chris our organiser.
Next morning, the feast of Corpus Christi, after breakfast we gathered for our procession carrying the statue of Our Lady of Walsingham and bearing the Banner we made our way to the shrine saying the rosary and singing hymns. Arriving at the shrine we are welcomed by the chapel bell. We process into the church, say a prayer and leave the banner in preparation for Mass. Time for confessions, a cup of refreshment Then High Mass, after we then board our coach in time for lunch. After lunch we then departed for home, stopping for a break at St. Joseph the Worker Worksop where a buffet was laid on. Then on to Skelmersdale after another successful and enjoyable pilgrimage.
