Sacrament of Baptism - The Practicalities
Baptisms take place on the FIRST SATURDAY of each month at 10:30am in St Richard’s Church.
Please speak with Fr Kenny when you attend Church for Holy Mass, and to let him know you wish to have your child Baptised. He will give you a ’Baptism Details’ form, then give the COMPLETED FORM to the Priest, Parish team or hand it into the Parish Office.
Space is always an issue so we would very much appreciate if your party is kept to the necessary people required to witness the Baptism, grandparents and godparents.
Your friends could meet up with you at the party venue, that is if you are having a celebration.
For parents
The baptism leaflet below has been prepared for parents, to be given to them at the time of their child’s baptism. It is a way of showing our support and encouragement as they start on their journey of faith together and that can be used to help families reflect on the sacrament.
An adult catechesis resource pack is available to help prepare parents for the baptism of their children. The resource has been widely piloted and used throughout the Archdiocese of Liverpool to engage parents at the baptism of their children and contains a catechist guide, 5 sets of cue cards for catechists and 5 sets of prayer cards for parents.
